And why Painting Goat?
Like most people, how I see myself and how others see me is probably completely different but if there's been one constant in my life that has formed who I am, whether alone or in a crowd, it's music. And I'm pretty sure, my love of music has had a huge influence on how I see the world, which has led me to travel and live in various different countries, allowing me to appreciate different cultures, environments and above all, loving how music brings people together, no matter where they are from.
Art is the same. Just like music, you know what you like and what you don't but one thing's for sure, both can reach you, touch you and move you. So for me, when performing as a singer was no longer an option, I had to find another way to express myself and discovering painting was a revelation.
So, let me give you a quick rundown of how I got here.
I'm a Brit, living in the Netherlands, married to a Dutchman and the mother of five goats. I started painting in 2017 after a very talented friend of mine said "Just give it a go....I'll help!". So I did. And literally, as soon as I started, I was hooked. It was the most relaxing, freeing and satisfying experience I'd had for so long.
After that, there was no stopping me. I couldn't stop painting and from there I moved into design, using my paintings. It was then a natural progression into digitally designing. Actually, when I say natural, that's not strictly true because to go from a paintbrush to a mouse was not easy and I have spent hours and hours learning from online courses on how to use software that was completely alien to me.....
and I'm still learning but oh, it's been fun!
